2016 Recipient of the CDECB’s Outstanding Award of Excellence and Dedication
The Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board announces the 2016 recipient of the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board’s Outstanding Award of Excellence and Dedication is awarded to Lori Berard, RN, CDE ® , practicing at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority ‐ Health Science Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Lori joins fellow CDE ® s, Michelle Corcoran, RD, Fredericton, NB; Sondra Sherman, P.Dt., Montreal, PQ; Kathy Gallaher, RN, Nanaimo, BC, as a recipient of this sought after award.
Lori Berard RN CDE ® continues to be active with the Diabetes Educator Section, of the Canadian Diabetes Association educating both patients and health care providers at local and national levels. She is currently the Nurse Manager of the Diabetes Research Group at Health Science Centre / University of Manitoba. Her nominator describes Lori as a “well known volunteer and speaker for the CDA (Canadian Diabetes Association) for many years and has volunteered thousands of hours of time from reviewing research papers for the CPG (Clinical Practice Guidelines) to helping an educator prep for the CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) exam. Lori’s lifework has been around diabetes care in helping support clients in management and encourage health care providers by always being willing to educate and share information.” Lori Berard will be presented with the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board’s Award of Excellence and Dedication during the CDA/CSEM Professional Conference and Annual Meetings, October 26 – 29, 2016 at the Shaw Convention Centre, Ottawa, Ontario.
