I spend a lot of time with people with diabetes. Therefore, does that time contribute towards the 800 hours of experience?

Working in any area may begin to accumulate experience towards the 800 hour requirement for diabetes education experience. However, the time to be considered is not time spent with people with diabetes but time you spend teaching them, their care givers, or those at risk of diabetes, about diabetes. The experience needs to be within the competencies (See Appendix A) as set out by the CDECB .
